Life Of A Bipolar Manic Depressive Disorder

Bipolar disorder - A psychiatric disorder marked by alternating episodes of mania and depression. Also called bipolar illness, manic depressive illness.

If you show manic depressive symptoms, chances are you need to seek medical/psychological help in order not to deteriorate your condition.

With negligence, you might continue to show signs of manic depression, you get very tense easily, get twitchy; hands and feet may rhythmically shake on their own accord, feel unease in a crowd of people, get irritated about the smallest things, and lots more signs and symptoms of manic depressive illness. Sometimes, the symptoms can be so drastic that one can no longer function normally with his daily life.

When you are in the depressive mood, you will forget most things, your mind goes into a blank, you do not know what to do next, your self confidence falls drastically and emotions are dampened, you get anxious and nervous dealing with people, become terrified to talk to or hear from people, stop talking with friends or going out with them or attending any social functions, eventually isolating yourself and not knowing what to do.

Living with manic depressive disorder, not only can change your life, it can ruin you too. On the other hand, while you are having your manic episodes, sometimes you feel as if you have become like a super hero with power. Doing things that you cannot possibly do on normal days. Things like physical activities requiring full muscle movements (cycling, running, swimming, lifting weights) becomes effortless.

Loving someone with manic depressive illness, can be a tough challenge too, because they can have mood swings for no reason. When communication from manic depressive sufferer is no longer possible during hypomania, family and friends should be more understanding and show more support to help stablise the conditions.

In short, it can be a life-long condition, and if it is not maintained or managed, it can destroy someone's life or even that of their loved ones.

Someone with bipolar disorder may wake up to face a day with crippling suicidal thoughts during a depressive episode or a day filled with the passions of a manic episode. The third possibility is to have a relatively normal day between episodes. This is the world of someone who suffers from the disorder. They never know when the disease will rear its ugly head.
